The year 2018-19 has been a year of growth for Lifewise as our work to develop better choices for people on the margins starts to bear fruit. Our Housing First programme working with street homelessness has scaled up and we are now working with Te Taumata O Ngati Whakaue to deliver Housing First in Rotorua.
Our youth housing programme is expanding as awareness of this issue grows. We are learning more about supporting children who have experienced trauma in their young lives and working with families to reduce the stresses that erode their parenting confidence.
Our thirst for innovation has led to new offerings for older people and those living with disabilities in the community.
In order to innovate we need to develop new skills and continue to evaluate and learn. We have been deepening our skills in design and innovation.
Our new peer support strategy will give people with lived experience of homelessness career pathways in our organisation. We have a strong focus on responsiveness to Māori whānau, hapu and iwi, and the challenge of decolonisation.
Above all else, we try to enhance the mana of those we work with and for.
We are grateful for the kind support and encouragement we receive from government, businesses, philanthropies, donors and members of the community.
We look forward to the year ahead.
